I couldn’t post this yesterday (10/9/18) because the Forums had a MySQL loading error, so I’m venting a day late. >:( >:( >:(
At what point did Avast think it was a good idea to release a program update on the same day that Windows Updates releases? Fortunately for me, I do my updates manually, but for those who don’t and have their settings on automatic, I can only imagine the headache you gave those people when Windows and Avast were trying to update at the same time, both requiring a restart. I bet that decision on Avasts part broke a few peoples Windows’ installation, because you can’t update a program at the same time that Windows is replacing its system files.
I personally experienced that issue years ago when I used to run everything in automatic mode, and iTunes tried updating itself when Windows was restarting itself from its own update. It completely broke iTunes, I lost my entire library and had to re-upload everything manually from my iPod, and it corrupted the Windows update, requiring me to run System Recovery to try to get everything back to normal again. Was a real pain in the you-know-what.
Avast, please, don’t do that again. Release a program update on a day that’s not “patch Tuesday”.
Thank you.
