When is Avast going to stop with the popups for chrome.I don’t want chrome, and I sure don’t need the popups that I have to turn off manually. If we were give the choice to at least be able to turn it off. This is turning off a lot of people. If Avast wasn’t so good I would switch to something else, but am getting close to the limit.

Is this a toaster style popup, where the auto update notification would normally be ?

If so you could disable the auto update notifications and see if that removes them. This (if it worked) would also mean an end of the regular auto update notification, which is what I have done on this system.

Why should I have to turn auto update off ??

The auto-update notifictions, not the auto-update itself.

You didn’t answer the question I asked, which would give information on whether it was associated/piggybacked to the auto update notification or not.

It isn’t the auto update, just the notification - As for Why! as I said (and reported in many other topics), if it is piggy backed to the auto update notifications, then the only way to get rid of it is to disable the auto update notification and you said you wanted rid of it.

if you mean show notification box after auto update. Yes it’s unchecked.

Which would tend to suggest that this isn’t a toaster popup, what I have asked about twice.

So I can’t suggest what else to try as I don’t know what this is like as I have never had it.

Marc, if a website looks wrong in a browser it is a badly programmed website.
Most likely because the programmer(s) did not followed the standards.

Maybe he’s referring to this popup?

I rather doubt that as this is nothing to do with St Patrick’s Day popup (which is why we have been asking for more details), but about:

Websites look wrong in your browser.

Its toaster popups on the right hand above avast icon.It was st patrick day offer now its Web site look wrong in your browser and Get your pc back up to speed. Once in the morning is fine, but several times a day is a pain in the backside.

Sorry. Clicked the wrong popup in my pictures.

Well if that is what it is then it is associated with (piggybacked) the auto update notification popup, which you said you unchecked.

I unchecked the avastUI > Settings > Update - scroll down to Update Options and uncheck the ‘Show notification box after automatic update.’ I haven’t had a single popup since I changed this some time ago (over a month). So was this the option you unchecked ?

Yes that’s it

If you did that I can’t understand why you are still getting them, but I haven’t had any on this XP system since doing this.

I haven’t done this on my win7 netbook to use that as a test bed to see what ads/info/tips are piggybacked to the auto update notification. For the most part they have been the normal auto update notification with the voiceover, regular update popup and correct duration that I set.

Whilst this netbook spends most of its time in standby, most update popups are correct, but it is possible that if there were two or more updates over a day then I could miss one.

What about the community features in Settings>Apperance>Community Features. Are those two boxes checked?

Nope

I have reinstalled avast, redone the setting. Now all I have to do is wait and see if that cured it.
