Quarantining beta versions

i dl’d midSetup.exe from ai.mid-journey.org. avast moved it to quarantine because it was infected with IDP.Generic.f4f34952b700.3.2.

midjourney says because it is an open beta version, it is possible that puters security systems may falsely trigger. they further state it is a common problem or all software in beta testing. the open beta version is only available for windows.

my question…how do i move the file out of quarantine, get it installed and prevent avast from flagging it again?

First I’m an Avast user not an Avast Team member.
Beta testing or not, if AVs are detecting it then perhaps they should do more to ensure what it does isn’t considered an intrusion and detected. Another thing, is this .exe file digitally signed by a recognised authority, as that would generally go a long way to avoid detection, not just in Avast but other AVs.

I have no idea what this program is meant to do, but IDP = Intrusion Detection Protection and Generic obviously isn’t a defined/specific virus signature. I don’t know what this program would be doing to be considered an Intrusion to get a hit on the IDP part of the Avast Alert.

Since it is in the Quarantine area you can submit it from there for Analysis by Avast.

You can also Restore it from Quarantine and Add an Exclusion, but there is risk involved in your choosing that option.

EDIT: See attached images - note these are from Avast 23.1.6049 (build 23.1.7883.778), a little older version.

DavidR thanks so much for the suggestion. the program is an ai for digital art. i’m gonna restore it, then let avast evaluate. again, thanks so much

You’re welcome.
