Does anyone know how they treat install codes for being hacked. The reason I ask is I was thinking about buying avast pro (newegg has a sale for 3 user license for $15) and putting it on my computers, but multiple of my computers have duel boot with XP and 7 on it. Obviously you will only be using one at a time, (you should only need 1 sense you only use one at a time) but I dont know if you have to buy 2 licenses for each computer, one for XP and one for 7 considering it is a duel boot, or if I could use the same code and install it on both computers. I know if you try that with any MS software, they throw you right on the hacked list, but I know that I have used the same code for avast free on multiple of my computers instead of registering for each PC. So I was wondering if they did the same for their Pro version too and did not worry about it or if they acted more like MS.
You need one license for each installation so dual booting requires 2 licences.
well, if that is the case, then it is not worth me buying… guess I will just stick with free. I wanted to support them because they do make a good product, and $5 I can handle per license, but since all the disks would not have the same license code, it is going to be a royal pain to keep track of what license went on to what computer and on what install. If they did not monitor it much except for what gets put out on the hacked list, then I would have bought the licenses, then just used one for all the computers so I did not have to worry about keeping it all straight. but trying to keep it straight and then having to double up on the licenses on each computer just doubled the costs and the aggravation and it is not worth it. IF any one has tried what I was thinking of and it worked fine, then please let me know, otherwise, I will just stick with free…
You want to support them by ripping the company off by using one license for 6 installations, I am sure they would be most appreciative :
um, maybe you should read what I wrote again. I said that I would buy the licenses, it is 3 licenses per disk and I said there would be multiple licenses. I never said that i was going to install it on 6 computers with 3 licenses, but if I have to buy multiple disks and use multiple licenses to install, I am not going to remember which install and which PC that I installed what on. and for the record, I would need more like 8 licenses if you consider each install so I would have to buy 3 disks. that is $45 right now at newegg, but if I only needed 1 code per PC, not install, I would have to buy 2 disks. as for the ripping them off remark, if I bought one disk then that means that they are making some money while right now they are making 0 of me because I am using free. I am not a business, so I am legally able to use free, without stealing thank you, and even if I bought just one disk, then that is some income that they did not have, so even if I went the route that you stated, then that is till the purchase of 3 licenses and still some income in their pocket. So please, dont jump to your own conclusions. You have an opinion, that is fine, but I dont like it when people accuse me of trying to steal when I never indicated, nor said anything of the sort.
