I see some that at the end of them it says no file but I saw no avg hope you don’t either. thanks Sharon

I don’t know why HP are saying there is no solution at this time, a solution is I would have thought re-installing your printer driver. You should have got a CD with the printer and that contains the drivers, so it should be possible to install it.

If you haven’t got the CD, they tell you what your printer series is: The model name of your multifunction printer is HP Photosmart C4400 All-in-One Printer series, but why they couldn’t just give you the URL they effectively tell you to find it on their site (pathetic). This is the link,
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/ProductList.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=3655558, you will notice that there are many different models in the C4400 series, so you need to choose the one for the exact model you have.

When downloaded you would run the driver installation file you downloaded.

Re your HJT log,

FIX:
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {A057A204-BACC-4D26-9990-79A187E2698E} - (no file)

This is AVG toolbar (again), you should fix this in HJT, make sure that you have closed all windows other than HJT or it may not be fixed if a browser happens to be open. This may be why it hasn’t been fixed before.

The others with (no file) aren’t really an issue as they all check out as legit. Now some won’t actually have a file as they actually don’t work that way, or they may simply be inactive, redundant, with only registry entries remaining. They really are a minor issue and you shouldn’t waste time on them whilst you have bigger issues.

I only have 10 mins I can be on right now. so will right you real quick and let you know we did get a disk but they told not to use the disk in less it was the only if we had to. some time back I did a manager recovery and had to re-stall the printer witch the last part where you have to plug in the printer while being conneted to the internet and then click finish. has not been done yet. where we had to put the printer we have to go from were it sets way over to here the computer. the cord has to across the floor about 8 inches above the floor it is a pain to do it. I will do it from the sight as soon as I do it. dones it have to be plug in and finished the install before i get the driver

thanks Sharon for some reason the last 2 times I have was I wrong to re-starting the computer 5 times after I used the avg removal? the last 2 times I have tried to do a spelling check it did not pull the box up to check the spelling. I wonder what can be wrong with it. thanks Sharon

I think you might be talking about a different disk, if this is an HP system it will have come with a recovery disk and NO you should not use that as it sets your system back to how it left the factory, NOT advised.

Printers normally come with their own specific printer disk and all that is on it is related to the printer only. Though I wouldn’t put it past HP if you bought it with your system not to have provided it, but put the printer stuff as part of the recovery disk.

So effectively you are left with downloading the relevant printer driver for your printer.

Really it makes no difference how many times you restart it really should only need one shot, but it won’t hurt.

I also wouldn’t worry about spell checking, the one on the forums (when it works) is very slow, at least on my system. Since I use Firefox, I have a British English Dictionary add-on which auto spell checks as I type in text boxes within firefox, highlighting incorrect spelling. So just another reason I like firefxo ;D

which auto spell checks as I type in text boxes within firefox, highlighting incorrect spelling. So just another reason I like firefxo ;D
Working well, there! ;D ;D

I am not sure of the disk I will check that when I can, but you knowing this might help you to help me better.

I have not click fixed or found that avg toolbar in HJ I had to fine a certain important book I need it for tomorrow I thought I had put it on a disk but I could not fine it so I was just searching in different folder to see if i might have saved it to safe place and forgot it or some times this happen when i click start and wrote part of the book title and found it. I then right click and click again for it to take me too the file location this is what I found {AppData> Roaming> Microsoft>Windows>recents} it has a lot of files and folder I did not know I had including Backup files 6 to 29 and others things I did not know I had. I have to go again I well be back on when I can. I thought this maybe some of my trouble.

thanks Sharon

Nope. Windows has a "recent" files list. The folder contains links to what has been recently opened.

And all this time I thought you had clicked “fix selected”. ::slight_smile:
If it isn’t too much trouble, would you mind letting anyone involved know when you have (or haven’t) actioned the suggestions in each post?
It would possibly save us a fair bit of time.

the other times right after I sent the log you Would;d tell me witch one to fix and then I would sen you another log you had just told me about the tool bar and after I click fixed i will send you another log. This it how i have been doing it send a log click fix and send another. the avg should have been gone after the i sent you the sent log… the 1st was showing you the problem the second was to see if it had fixed. on this time only I have not click next because I have not did the last part of this time yet. I hope I made sense. will do that part in the morning. I just did not have enough time on the computer to the second half of what were working on now. till in the morning thank you Sharon

How it works is:
-User does a system scan, posts the log to a forum.
-Those able look at the log, advise what items to fix.
-User does another scan, locates items indicated, ticks them, and clicks “fix selected”.
-HijackThis fixes those items, if it is able.
-User closes HijackThis, reopens it, does a new scan, and posts that scan report to the forum.

That way the forum helpers know if HijackThis has fixed the problem, by looking at a new scan report, or if further work is needed.

I am sorry that is how I thought I explain it. right now I I’m going to look and fine what you told me was the avg tool bar and check mark it. then click fix and do another scan for you. I think by how you explane the word ticks is to make a check mark by it. even when I think I have it right and try to do the steps I wonder if there is some think els I did not understand. thanks for trying to help Sharon

after I found and check mark that box then click fixed it and look at it I found nothing that started with 03. if I understand it right. what I put a check mark by is no longer there means it work right. I am sure this is how I have done every time. except this time I wrote the 03 line down on a peace of paper and had every thing closed as I did every time except this time I even closed the note pad that had use to fine what I put a check Mark by. I hope I deserve a  thanks Sharon you have earn more then     but I thank you to.

Don’t worry about the CD, as we don’t know for sure what it is (I can’t see or check it) and you don’t want to go playing with the HP restore disk. The easier/safer option is to download the driver for your multi-function printer from the HP link I gave.

As you can see I have snipped a lot out of the quoted text. Try to keep to the information only relevant as other side issues just confuse things and this is I believe why this topic has gone on for so long and bears no resemblance to the original topic.

This is said avg toolbar, it doesn’t say it is the avg toolbar, my investigation says it is the avg toolbar, so you aren’t looking for avg toolbar but the entry I posted, repeated below.
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {A057A204-BACC-4D26-9990-79A187E2698E} - (no file)

If you found the entry I mentioned above, checked the box to the left (having closed all browsers and windows other than HJT) and now click the Fix checked button, you should get a confirmation pop-up Fix 1 (or 2 or however many) selected items, select Yes.

If so it would clear the HJT screen, click the Scan button again, and all you are doing is ‘confirming’ that what you have fixed is gone, if so job done.

I may have just missed it but I did not see any confirmation that said it was fixed all I know is when I did another scan and kept the log. the one I had check mark was not there. if this is done, is there any thing els you think I should do or need to do to fix this computer. I realized you do not have the computer in front of you that the question you might not be able to answer but think you might have thing you think I need to check to see if the computer running like it should. later I will check here and check the opera questions I have ask. there I know some question that were answer and well help me with that problems I am having there. I do really thank you and every one for being patient with me and helping. thanks Sharon  ps also in one of my last post where I told you I found a location that had a lot of files and folders I did not know I had like the ones that were named backup I think it went from somethink like backup 6 to backup 29. may have hidden files that we did not know of that may have caused the extra trouble? just wanting to know if that could be a possible thanks again

Sorry Sharon, as I said this topic has gone on so long and bears no resemblance to the original topic I’m lost. So I’m literally working post to post which isn’t good all we have been doing for some time bears no to quick player or windows media.

That is the problem when a topic has more than one specific thread in it, quickly it becomes confused and bogged down and no one can hope to follow it over 18 pages that’s 257 posts after this one.

I have been following the topic but not in detail and only jumping in if I can see something specific.

So as has been said before, keep a topic to a single issue, this topic to all intents and purposes it lost. So I would suggest creating a new topic for a single specific problem, don’t let it go off at a tangent with other side issues unless it is specifically related to the topic.

Keep the post short and again specific to what you have done or been asked to do in a previous post, don’t get side tracked and go off at a tangent, or it will become confused and take longer to resolve.

Whilst this may seem harsh, it is meant with the best intentions as many times I have seen new posts in this topic that have been so long, I have just passed by. Just me, but when I see huge blocks of text, I just don’t seem to be able to comprehend them.

Sorry Sharon, as I said this topic has gone on so long and bears no resemblance to the original topic I'm lost
That could be partly my fault David, I suggested early on when there appeared to be only a few issues to sort that she keep it all to one topic. Agree it has blossomed into something unweildy and probably unhelpful.

Sorry, Sharon, it is likely that because this has jumped around so much, that there will be very limited numbers of people able to follow and help. I mean, you’re getting lost yourself! Partly it’s because you are adding more questions to the mix before each issue that was posted about has been worked through to completion. The time zone difference doesn’t seem to help, either.

So if you have a specific question here related to this thread, I’ll keep on with it, but to tell the truth, regarding the original problem, I think everything you should need is here already.

I understand! I off to bed in a few min but want to thank every for staying with me. I will See how the computer is doing and will look at some of my notes that I try to take and see where computer land will take me next. I will stay on one subject and if another ones comes up will make a note to do it next time. Thanks you every one and more thanks to the one that has been with me from the start till now. Sharon
