Ransomware Shield question

Is there a way to find out what folders are protected? The names on the screen are truncated.

A screenshot could help.

A lot depends on exactly where it is that they are displayed.

In some cases in windows, simply hovering the mouse pointer over the truncated text will display the full content.

Also in some cases the field or window can be expanded to see more/all of the content.

We already suggested to change that. Let’s see…

Here you go. Hovering the mouse shows nothing.

OK.

This looks like it is protecting the default folder/s for user and default user documents, photographs, etc.

You can click on the ? (Help) top right of the Ransomware Shield window, that should open up the context help function for the Ransomware Shield. Hopefully it might give more information on the defaults.

Unfortunately, no. All it says is “By default, Ransomware Shield scans for and automatically secures folders where your personal data might be stored.” Well, heck, that could be anywhere!

Why not just protect the whole drive? Sure, it might be a pain in the butt, at first, specifying which programs are “OK” (similar to dealing with early versions of ZoneAlarm), but unless you use three thousand different apps to modify files with, why not? Plus, Smart Mode is supposed to take care of a lot of that.

It can’t be much worse than the UAC prompt.

Later. And thanks.

protecting the whole disk drives will affect the system performance greatly. Also, dont assume all ransomware behaves the same. The best move for this is to only set those folders that u think are vulnerable(only u can know which is which: umm like ur download folder).

The best defense is common sense. Use ur common sense to compromise the limitation of your antivirus software.
