Ransomware

My Avast did’nt detect the virus “Ransomware” yesterday. (Trojan. Ransom)
¿Why?
It’s up to date and I thought it was a good antivirus, until yesterday…

because there is no security program that have 100% detection…
and the ransomware that infected you may be brand new…

wonder how many times we have to repeat this… ::slight_smile:

if you need help removing it, follow this guide and attach the logs

It still is a very good resident av solution - avast.

Pre-scan where you plan your clicks and absolutely use a couple of scanners to get a second op when you try to download.

Moreover lots of users get infected because their OS and third party software has not been fully updated and patched.
Users with Google Chrome browser are more secure in that respect, else check using http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/online/
to check your OS and third party software for updates and patches…

Before venturing out some scanners you can scan with (random) examples

VTchromizer add-on in Fx or GoogleChrome is also a nice add-on to start up virustotal URL scans with one click.
The additional non-residential install of MBAM and SAS will further close your vulnerability window,

Stay safe and secure online and use some common sense where you plan your clicks,

I fixed it with “polifix”.
It’s not so brand new, but thanks anyway.
Sorry if I make you repeat things.

I agree with pondus how many times should we repeat…No AV can get all viruses…but avast is very good as u can see here: http://www.shadowserver.org/wiki/pmwiki.php/AV/Virus180-DayStats

do u have the infected files…send them to virus@avast.com with subject undetected malware.

keep the files zipped and password protected use 7 zip to do so…and specify the password on e-mail body…

Ransomware samples are getting re-packed every hour, don’t think that you will have better luck with other AV’s.
