Re: Avast 8 'Remote Assistance' problem [RESOLVED]

Today I connected successfully using ‘Remote Assistance’ from my Windows XP Professional SP3 PC with Avast 8 , to a Windows 7 laptop with Avast 7.

The Windows 7 user subsequently upgraded to Avast 8. Ever since then when I attempt to connect to that user, Avast at my end freezes and does not connect, although the remote user sees a message indicating that the connection has been successful. Effectively, Avast crashes and I have to reboot my PC to remove the crashed program from my screen.

Interestingly, the identical problem also occurs for the Windows 7 user when they attempt to use Remote Assistance to connect with me ie. Avast crashes at their end.

Is this a known issue? Is a fix on the way? Thanks.

Good News - After some necessary surgery on the Windows 7 laptop (Reinstalling Google Chrome and updating some other progs), we tested Remote Assistance again this morning and all now works OK :slight_smile:
