I am installing my scanner software and have been asked to disable all anti virus software, how do I do this?
Personally I wouldn’t do this, when new software is being installed is when I would say you need an AV most.
I take it that this is a flatbed style scanner and not an anti-spyware/virus scanner ?
I would have to ask why the feel it is needed or what are they doing that and AV is likely to object to.
Yes it is a flat bed scanner. I don’t know why it asks, but when I put the disc in, it asks that all AV be disabled.
but when I put the disc in, it asks that all AV be disabledI have to agree with David. I also don't disable avast! not just because it tells me to. Can't really recall ever having a problems by letting avast! stay resident either. :)
I assume that it gives you the option to ignore its suggestion and proceed with the installation, that is what I would choose to do. None of my previous flat bed scanners have even suggested it when I installed their software.
I will 3rd what David & Bob have posted above. Never had a problem installing any software for peripherals (printers, scanners, all-n-ones, etc) with avast active. I also would be leery of doing so without am av service running.
