Re Manual/User Guide for the "Free Avast home Edition 4"

I have just noticed Avast do have a “Avast home Edition 4 Manual/User Guide” and is available on the web site of
http://www.avast.com/eng/download.html
This Web Site shows as the Czech-based home of "ALWIL [Avast]:

When you go to the Australian Website =
http://www.avast.com.au/pc-laptop/avast-professional/
You will note these “Manuals/User Guides” are not shown or listed?

I have download and viewed the manual/user guide and, yes, it gives/ shows all that one requires

Your comments please?

Comments of what? That the User Guides is missing at the Australian Website?

Well I would say that the avast.com.au isn’t an official Alwil site but an avast authorised reseller.

I did a whois for avast.com.au and it doesn’t come up as registered to Alwil as avast.com does.

You will however see it on the list of Australian avast resellers, http://www.avast.com/eng/resellers_australia.html, first on the list, Biz-Aid Pty Ltd. So the content on their site is likely to differ from that of avast.com.

Slightly (or maybe more than slightly) o/t, this made me curious. While carrying (or not) the avast manual may be left to the reseller’s choice, does Alwil check that the resellers keep right up to date with program versions? And def updates too, if those are also available from the resellers in addition to from Alwil’s numerous own servers?

All definitions are on Alwil servers only (i.e. their update is under our complete control).
All download links (of program installers, for example) should point to our servers as well, i.e. they should also point to the latest versions.

However, we don’t control the content of 3rd party webpages (such as avast.com.au - which probably is a reseller, but I don’t know that for sure) - so we can’t do much about missing content/links.

So, “avast.com” is the only official domain.

Thanks, igor. That pretty much confirms the standing advice everywhere to always use the publisher’s site if possible, for just about any software.

Thanks for all of your comments.
It looks like my topic has been now addressed by the parent ALWIL Company as I have noticed the Avast Australian site of http://www.avast.com.au/ is now redesigned and shows it as a only “Avast! Antivirus Gold Partner”
I do hope all other Avast linked associated sites will show that they are only partners and not to present their web sites identical to a publisher’s owned designed ALWIL Avast site
Many thanks

They say: Just released avast! 4.8 Professional now has antivirus, anti-spyware & anti-rootkit for Windows.
Isn’t it a little outdated? ???

For someone first visiting their site it would be new ;D but not just released, but they could be talking 4.8.1229 build which is relatively new and given a few weeks after the next program update, it will be correct ;D
