READYBOOST in XP

Is there any software that enables ready boost in XP like in Vista so that I can transform my USB drive into virtual ram
:o

Google is your friend

@ the OP: no ;D … although some people just set the page file on a USB flash drive in XP; but that’s in no case the equivalent of a readyboost drive simulating more RAM (not mentioning that even on Vista/Seven flashdrives are much slower than actual RAM anyway)… so that’s a waste of time and money; ready boost was just brought by MS to be able to sell Vista to people running low end and old systems where it wasn’t possible to add more RAM (more than the already installed 512 MB, which wasn’t enough) >>>>> MS has been actually sued by consumers about the minimum requirements for Vista (Vista ready label on OEMs was misleading).
To make things clear: ReadyBoost is nothing else than a marketing strategy

I agree with that…when I received my last flash drive, it claimed to be readyboost capable, however what it failed to mention was that it is limited to 4GB, when mine is 8GB…

Add to that the fact that I don’t actually need it…

[font=Segoe UI]ReadyBoost is not actually fast, it’s just like increasing your Virtual Memory. As we know, accessing FlashDisks is not as as accessing a RAM so, it would not yield any noticeable results. Either way, you may still try it. How:

ReadyBoost for XP ===============

1 Plug in your FlashDisk
2 Open My Computer then right click your FlashDisk and select Properties
3 Click Hardware tab and select your FlashDisk then click Properties
4 Click Policies tab then select Optimize for preformance then click OK > OK
5 Go to your desktop and right click My Computer and select Properties
6 Click Advance tab and click Settings in the Performance Box
7 Click Advance tab and click Change
8 Click on your FlashDisk then on the lower part click Custom Size
9 Assign the size you want to allocate then click Set
10 Click OK > OK > OK

The best boost for XP is adding RAM.

Two ways to find the right memory upgrade for your computer. GUARANTEED!

@ .: L’ arc :. : …LOL… and then you got a beautiful page file on your USB key… and will most likely impair performances due to limitation on USB (2.0 as well yeah… and 3.0 is not wide spread yet to say the least) connectivity, well done ;D

edit: my best advice, go there ;D
