With Real site enabled, it is interfering with the servers provided by my VPN provider. A leak test shows that Avast servers are also being queried in addition to the those allocated by the VPN provider.
In order to prevent this, I have to disable Real site.
Is there any way to keep Real Site enabled without this interference?
Thank you for your reply, that seems to be a practical solution.
I’m still a little unsure as to what will give me the best protection, I think the two options offer different benefits:
Real Site will ensure that I only visit genuine sites, but does not seem to offer any protection against malware, ads & trackers. I’m aware that Avast has its own add-on app for this purpose.
The VPN will protect against malware, ads & trackers, but I’m not sure if it ensures I only visit genuine sites :-\
Actually, no.
If running without your vpn, turn RealSite on. You’ll get your dns protection when just running https. Turn it off (reboot) when using your vpn.
Thank you for your reply.
I was thinking that I don’t need both, but am wondering which would give the best protection out of the two options (Avast or VPN).
If Real Site is enabled, it prevents the VPN from performing this service, in addition to bringing other DNS servers into play, which seems an unnecessary complication.
I have to disable Real site. You are using the VPN providers dns so you dont need it
