Real Time AntiSpyware suggestions

Well that kinda makes sense since the Web Security Guard runs through the Crawler Toolbar.

Yesterday i noticed that Spybot now has anti-rootkit plugins :-*

Plugin? Where?

Tech, push the update button and you will get the plugins. There are no changes neccessary

Well… my Spybot is updated… but I can’t figure out where are any of the antirootkit plugins or configurations… can anybody post a screenshot?

They do not show in the GUI, they are integrated in the “scan for problems” feature!
But still you can find them in C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Plugins (Chai, Fennel, Mate).

Damn my english

What do these plugins do?
What are they?

Rootkits are a technology that is more and more often used by malware to hide themselves on system level, making themselves invisible to standard tools. Our new plugins help Spybot-S&D to detect this malware, and our RootAlyzer shows you anything that uses certain rootkit technologies, even if it's not in Spybot-S&Ds detection database. You can apply the new plugins for the rootkit search by just updating your Spybot-S&D as usual.

Chai, Fennel, Mate are the anti-rootkit plug-ins, but I don’t what the do, probably anti-rootkitting Lol

Thanks for the url. What I can see is that RootAlyzer 0.1.2.21 is not embedded inside Spybot, I mean, Spybot isn’t scanning for rootkits but a standalone application called RootAlyzer is doing this job. Am I wrong?

Yes

SpyBot does scan for rootkits, but RootAlyser provides a more GUI approach for where rootkits do and may exist.

..when you start RootAlyzer, it performs a very quick scan of a few important places, taking about a second on modern machines. To check the full system, click on the Deep Scan tab.

I won’t lie to you, I haven’t fully understood it either, but the only I’m certain of (from discussions on the spybot forum) is that SpyBot scans for rootkits!

Running it deeply now…
Indeed the fast scanning found nothing and take 2-3 seconds only.
