I’m having so much trouble with real time shield … my business is online with face book and youtube vids and it has gotten so bad as of late that it is almost impossible to view either … today i decided to turn off Real Time Shield and wow all was good … I just about went out to buy a new computer because of this problem … is there any way to fix this problem with real time shield besides turning it off…
Can you please enable all real-time shields and then disable each one to find out which one cause your trouble? Is it webshield, network shield, or file-system shield? Do you notice raised number of scanned objects in these shields while you’re working with facebook/youtube videos? Thanks.
Hello and thank you … it seems to be both web shield and network shield that is slowing things down
Thanks for feedback, do you see high number of scanned objects in webshield and network shield? Can you write me those numbers? Or make 2 screenshots, thanks.
Web shield: pages scanned 21/0
Net work: Pages Scanned 14/0
Are these the right numbers you need ???
Yes, but they’re quite low… I expected a constant scan progress, or a lot of scanned objects… I sent a personal message to our webshield+netshield developer so maybe he’ll have some ideas… meanwhile, you can check if your slowdown is caused by webshield or network shield, because I don’t think they both cause your slowdown. I think our developer will get us some answers tomorrow.
PK, is it possible that there could be old AV leftovers here. I have never seen anyone experience this before, except where there were several protection programs. I have seen Malwarebytes take out machines with a single core (older XP boxes) and remove defender. Just thinking out loud!

Ok thank you … all i know is i can’t believe how fast my computer is with them shut off i will investigate deeper as to which one it is … i run 2 core with xp just in case you need that info
Well i have tested every option with the real time shield and the best is if i have both web shield and networking shield shut off …
i re installed avast we will see if that makes a difference
Did it help? Thanks.
Hi, I am also having a similar problem with the Real Time shields since the most recent Avast program update.
Whenever I try to navigate through the files on my Network drive the icon pictures take up to 15 sec to load, sometimes even causing the system to lock-up until they have loaded. During this time my network meter shows activity of about 10MBps download speed from my Network drive (I had disconnected my landline from my router to eliminate the internet possibly confounding this).
I had already done a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate on my system last night and all was fine until the most recent update came through. After some digging I found the culprit to be the Behavioural shields going crazy, analysing up to 1500 events in one go (when all I am doing is trying to navigate through my folders on my Network drive, not clicking or executing any programs in the process). When I disable “Monitor the system for unauthorized modifications” the problem disappears.
I assume that the function is being to aggressive and overly scanning the process responsible for loading the icon images, in the short term if you could tell me what this process is (I can’t find reference to it online) I can add it to the trusted process list which should hopefully fix this issue.
Hopefully you can address this in the next update, since I am loathe to leave such an important monitoring function disabled.
Kind regards
P.S. Just for comparison with user “innerbalance11” I myself am not experiencing any appreciable slow down or scanning spike when browsing the internet.
