in the summary it says real time shields are on, but when i click real time tab, nothing happens, i cant see the moving graphs
any reason for this ?

Have you ever been able to see these graphs ?
If not, they actually use flash to display them, so you need the IE version of Flash Player installed.
ive only ever had adobe flash, and its up to date,
as far as i can remember, the graphs always appeared
Does flash work in IE ?
If so try a repair of avast:
Win7 - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.
You may need to reboot after the repair.
How about the graphs in the Summary, Statistics ?
Whilst they aren’t in real time I think that they also use flash.
