Hi I’ve just got rid of Realplayer,and installed the real alternative. I was a bit worried it might not work,but it seems brilliant.It may be my imagination,but when I watch BBC clips,it works better than the REAL Realplayer ;D The download said 6.1mb,but it shows up in my computer as 14mb, I don’t quite understand that.Anyone who uses Firefox and watches BBC streaming, I can thoroughly recommend this,especially with recent security worries about Realplayer.

The download is the compressed (packed) installation file when you install it the total program size will be larger.
I also use the real alternative, but I don’t use the BBC services.
You can try JetAudio as an alternative: free, skinable, play real files, etc.

GOM Player is by far the best video player I have ever tried. It can play any file type I’ve tried. If it doesn’t have a codec for the file, it will download it for you. I just downloaded the “real alternative” codecs, it plays perfectly (as always). It even plays files that other players told me that were destroyed :o I used to have a video player for the common file types + real alternative + quicktime alternative. Now it’s just GOM. I’m impressed! 8)

I too use Real Alternative, but I don’t do BBC streaming. I think it is much better then the real Real Player 
You mean Media Player classic is better then Real Player ?
Simple solution is to use jetAudio
It takes care of everything.
For my personal taste JetAudio is a little overbloated , i prefer GOM for playing video files and Winamp for audio pleasures(altough i like Amarok even better, unfortunately it isn’t available for windows) …
