RealTemp.exe is a false positive

I depend on this program to protect my PC from overheating when stressed and have been using it for years WITH Avast and no problem. Why all of a sudden its seen as Malware by Avast? I put it on the exclusion list and trusted processes and re-did all the settings so that Avast will never do anything automatically again (delete or move to virus chest). Strongly suggest that default settings should be to ASK first rather than delete or mess with what may be legitimate files.

Here is the site for RealTemp:

Other than that, very happy with Avast performance in general. Thanks.

Sometimes additional crap comes from certain download sites, and some sites were checked not to contain this.
So you’d try and download from here: www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/real_temp.html
and then check if the FP is again flagged, as I think it then download file should not be flagged from majorgeeks.

If RealTemp.exe file is located in %Program Files%\RealTemp_XX\ then it is legit.
[note: XX is version number]

Also it may be in %temp% as a temporary located file (if program itself uses temp folder as a temporary location)

Hello,
send the file to virus@avast.com, put “False positive” to email subject – I haven’t found link to download the app.

I noticed the DL link for this program (v3.75) is no longer available and have contacted its author for clarification. The earlier version (v3.70) is available ( http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2089/real-temp-3-70 ) but oddly Avast has no problem with it. Have sent the problem file to Avast though. Thanks.

Hello,
thank for the sample. It will be fixed in next stream update.
