is this normal? but disappears after the startup and the avast icon starts to turn around. i’ve used the 4.7 edition before but never had red circle when starting.
I have never had it happen before, but some do report this happening for a few seconds, how long does it last for ?
What is your operating system ?
^it last only a few seconds 10sec perhaps. i use winXP. its not that bothering to me, just like to know if this also happens to other users. thanks. 
A lot depends on when avast gets started as one of the system processes that it requires might not be loaded yet.
You could delay avast on boot, Program Settings, Troubleshooting, Delay loading of avast! services after other system services and see if that makes a difference.
I’ve seen this happen on several Win XP systems, As David said, It all depends on when Avast gets to start.
