For sure, avast! is not blocking those pictures or adds… avast! is antivirus, not add blcoker. Red X-es and missing graphics is well known issue in IE related browsers.
Another possibility - what firewall are you using ? If it’s Outpost, it could be that you still have add-blocker active. Check that as possibility, but I’m sure that red X-es are primary IE issue…
It looks like your setting in one of the applications is preventing them from loading.
You can ofcourse shut them down 1 at a time and check when the problem is solved. This way you will know what application it is that are blocking them.
If it 4x, try disabling its ad blocking option & then clear Ur browser cache & try the page again
PS Firefox & Opera are much better than IE imho, U should have a look at some of the extensions for Firefox, only time i use IE is for windowsupdate 8)
I think most of the time you see a red X it’s because the image isn’t on the server so it can’t be downloaded, or the path to the image isn’t correct, especially if you see a red x in different browsers.
Haven’t forgotton the help you have given. I found out thru another forum that if I change the name of C:\windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts to C:,,\hosts.old that the red x’s would go away.
Guess what?! It WORKS. At least for me. It has something to do with www.wunderground.com - Weather Underground.
Can you open hosts file (now it’s hosts.old because you renamed it) in your text editor. Please copy contents of that file and post them here in this thread…
