Hello, here is my situation. When I started up my computer today, Avast! alerted me that it had blocked malware from running and sent it to the virus chest. The infected file was redir.dll and Avast! labeled it as Win32:Malware-gen. I had Avast! run a full scan, but the results were negative. I have an outdated version of Malwarebytes that needs a re-installation, and there are already two items that it has quarantined from a previous infection: a Trojan.Agent and a Rootkit.TDSS. My computer isn’t showing signs of abnormality, but I want to get to the bottom of this. Any help will be very much appreciated.
redir.dll may come from a rogue security program or fake alert

I have an outdated version of Malwarebytes that needs a re-installationso why dont you update it and do a scan ?
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.46 http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
always run update before you scan so you have the latest database
click on the remove selected button to quarantine anything found
you may post the scan log here
Does that mean that I can just delete the quarantined items first, and then re-install and update Malwarebytes?
yes. you can try clicking the update button in the one you have and see if it will download and install the latest, if it does not work then download the latest installer
