Reg. Key Invalid as of today

Today I got a red splash screen from Avast instead of the usual blue. When clicking for more information it says that the registration code is expired. So further checking I see that under About Avast it says my registration code expired on Feb 1, 2006. Today. Is my Avast still working but just not having the data base updated? Or not. And why wouldn’t I have gotten a renewal notice. How can I renew this? Sorry, alot of questions. Sort of panicking. Thanks if anyone can help me.

Avast is still working, as you indicated, but is no longer updating either the virus database or the program itself.

All you need to do is re-register. From the Avast home page, go to “FREE avast! Home Registration” under the Support menu. You’ll get a new registration code emailed to you which will be good for another 14 months.

Thanks for responding. The only thing is that I have a paid version. How would I renew that? I wonder what the advantages of having the paid version are. Somehow I ended up getting the 4.6 professional version.

The Pro version offers greater configurability that I’m sure you would notice if you down graded to the free for Home non-commercial use version.

You should be able to renew on-line (http://www.avast.com/eng/faq-registration-license.html#idt_1442) but I would have thought the reseller should have contacted you.

So are you saying that I should just go to that link and buy it again. Instead of a renewal it would just be a new.? Sorry I am a little lame on this stuff.

sherrymyra, how long have you had avast pro installed? And do you still use the same email address as when you got it?

Where did you buy it ?
Renewals are available if you bought through Share*it otherwise you would need to either contact the reseller

The renewal option is now available for customers who purchased our products at share*it.

So if you didn’t purchase through Shareit you would hae to buy a new license and not a renewal and in future I believe you would be entitled to a renweal discount via Shareit. However, I don’t work for Alwil I’m only using the web site to find this information.

Important note: the renewal option is available only to users who have already purchased the program and their subscription has not yet expired, or has expired in less than 30 days.

I bought it from Share it last november 3rd 2005. I got no notice of renewal. When checking today it says expired Feb. 1. But technically I did purchase it over 13 months ago. If I just go ahead and order it from sharit again, and instead of being a renewal, then I would just purchase it as a new order. Is that correct? Would this new installation just override my old one? Or would I then have 2 versions of Avast? ???

Hello,

When you purchase avast! from Share it you get a key that you just put in to your current version that you have then you will not need to worry about it again. To put in a new license key go to the a ball in the taskbar right click it then click about avast!. Then towards the bottom to the left of the OK button you should see License Key… click on that and put in your new avast! pro license key and there you go you have a new license for 14 months.

ok. I see. Thank you, so much.

There is usualy an extra two months tagged on to the initial purchase.

Using the links I’ve given you above and going to Share*it from the on-line shop bt I couldn’t see anything about renewal purchase.

You could contact Shareit if you have the original email they sent with your registration key or contact sales@avast and explain the situation and see if they can point you to the renewal purchase at Shareit and or what to do.

I’m sorry I can’t be more helpfull as I don’t work for Alwil, I’m turning in for the night it is just after 2 a.m.

Will I be ok for a few days then without getting a new version? It is still working but just won’t update? Or should I get right on it.?

You should do this as soon as possible to avoid later complications.
