Regarding the Conficker...

Since it’s passed April 1st, is this Conficker thing still going around?

I use Avast! Home edition, SpyBot Search & Destroy, MalwareBytes anti Malware, and I scan with all of them daily and check to see if I can go on the symantec website weekly to make sure I’m not infected.

I had automatic Updates turned on so I already got the security update, but they say I could still get the worm.

Am I safe? Is there anything I can do right now to try and stay safe?

Oh and I got symantec’s downloadup removal tool, 3 of them in different areas. (Yes I’m really scared)

Thanks In advance!

-= Just make sure you have the latest updates in your antivirus, antispyware, antimalware, and the OS itself… With that, you will surely be “invulnerable” [almost…]

Yeah I’m making sure everything is up to date.

Who's this "they", of which you speak, oh CatWaffles?

Microsoft’s post about the conficker worm, Symantec’s post about the conficker worm, and some of my friends who know a thing or two about computers.

I would’ve asked them, but they said I’m just overreacting and I’ll be fine. But I’m just not so sure…

-= Prevention is better than cure… so, I think, you shouldn’t use the word overreacting…

Any chance of a URL or two? I don't doubt what you're saying but would like to read it myself. Personally I think you're as well protected as you reasonably can be. The chances of stumbling upon a new variant of this that hasn't yet been detected by Avast are small indeed. If you do, you'd have to consider that really bad luck.
