Just bought Avast after being shown that my registry is corrupt, my question is, will Avast scan the registry? and will it fix any errors it might find?
Welcome to the forum.
What do you mean by corrupt ??? Any error messages ???
avast! is an antivirus program not a registry cleaner.
It scans the registry for possible infections but has nothing to do with
fixing the registry.
Unless you’r an expert, the registry is probably the last thing you
should be messing with.
One mistake in the wrong place and your system may not start.
another question…how do you know registry is corrupt ?
Good question…!
well I keep getting a printer spool error when I try to scan, and I was on the phone with HP tech support who used a program called ARO2011 and it said there was 413 registry errors, so thats how I know its corrupt
they wanted to charge me 400.00 for 5 programs thats would fix the problem…I said NO, I will reformat the hard drive first and just re-install windows and start all over again
Well, just ignore them, you don’t have to pay anyone to get this fixed.
Just continue with us. ![]()
Then i have a free suggestion for you…dont you love that word…FREE ![]()
Look in Essexboys guide here http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
then follow the instructions for OTL and attach the OTL log…
Essexboy will then have a look inside an fix any problem he see…if there are any ???..and it is all FREE
he logs out in one hour…so if you hurry
Thats why I decided to buy Avast, since I have been using the free version for a while now, I appreciate all of your assistance, I dont do much with the registry, as Im not that smart (I dont think I am) however I do know a few things about computers…lol
working on that now, thank you, will keep advised
Have you tried uninstalling your printer, disconnecting the printer
from the computer, rebooting, and then re-installing the printer ???
Or CCleaner http://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ ![]()
Actually running him from another thread http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=91892.msg730432;boardseen#new
Thanks for letting us know.
Two posts by the same user on the same subject is never good only wastes time and
duplicates efforts. ![]()
