Hey…I’m a newbie…and not computer savvy, so please have pity on an old fart.
Had to install new hard drive. How do I reinstall Pro edition?
What version of the pro, 4.8 (presumably) or 5.0 ?
Regardless of the version you will need the copy of your pro license number that was emailed to you when you bought the license, that you saved when you received it (you did save it) and enter that when you install avast pro on the new drive.
If you failed to save it or can’t find it you will need to contact sales (at) avast (dot) com, giving the date you bought the license, where and the email address you used for the purchase. Hopefully they will be able to find your purchase info and send a copy of the license.
Job isn’t over though, if you had avast 4.8 pro and you decide to install the latest avast 5.0 pro (probably best) the old 4.8 license won’t work with it, but it can be converted free, with the remaining time left on your original license.
- avast! 5 Pro license convert from 4.8 Pro license. Try http://www.avast.com/resend-license.php now, fill in the form giving your email and 4.8 Pro License key and they will send the new license file to you (presumably it will check you have a legit 4.8 Pro license first).
