I am using Mozy Backup service. It cannot make a connection to my machine while AVAST is ennabled. If I disable avast, there is no problem. How do I tell avast to not prevent the connection?

No, sure it’s not. I’m using Mozy too.
Which is your firewall? Is ashWebSv.exe (avast WebShield) allowed to connect?
In the Resident Protection dialog box, the Last Scanned: was WebSv.exe??? Don’t appreciate what this means?

Yesterday I paused the Web Shield and tried an manual Mozy backup. It was fine.
Left the Web Shield paused overnight. The regular Mozy backup failed again!! ???
Any more thoughts?

Check Mozy logs.
Also, try to ask for Mozy support, it’s quite good too.
