Remove Gaget from Desktop

How can I remove the Avast Gaget from my desktop? The orange ball is in the taskbar tray, and that’s okay.

Avast Gadget removal - 1. Control panel → Programs and Features → avast! → Change → uncheck the box “avast! gadget”

  • OR -
  1. right-click the desktop, select Gadgets, right-click the avast! gadget and select Uninstall.

Many such topics if you had browsed the forums or used the forum search for remove gadget, etc.

Thank you done.

You’re welcome.

Sorry, when I shut down the computer and restarted it, the Gaget was back. I use windows 7. On my other pc’s with windows xp, I am able to take out in the startup section. Can’t do it with windows 7. It’s really annoying, I can close it when I want, buy just appears again with restart.

Option 1 should work for all OSes both XP and win7.

I uninstalled in Gagets. Windows 7 gives no options in Avast. The only option it gives is to uninstall Avast which I don’t want to do. There is no check mark indicator.

If it comes back after uninstalling in gadgets you need to do as suggested in option 1 of my first post and that is in win7 I have done it on my win7 netbook.

Control Panel, Program and Features, Uninstall or change a program, select avast and click on the Uninstall/Change link, see image. That should display another window, select change, it should now show the avast shields and functions, uncheck the avast gadget, click Next and OK your way out.

Or just right click the desktop - select gadgets and do it from there

He has tried uninstalling form gadgets and it just comes back on reboot in win7.

Ah OK I am using 6.1021 which has resolved that problem

Thanks again. It finally worked. When I went to Programs, initially I was afraid it would uninstall Avast. But the option came up, CHANGE, when I clicked that, as you said another window did come up, and I removed Gagets.

Thank you again very much, it was such a pain.

You’re welcome.
