remove virus in email notification

Hi,
I get a lot of email every day. Many of the messages contain viruses or trojans. I am really tired of having to sit in front of the computer and always press “Block It” or “Delete” without even looking at the notification.
I cannot seem to be able to find an option to let Avast simply delete the message without notifying me.
Is there such an option?

Thank you.

…or at least send to “junk” or “bulk” file (instead of inbox) where they can be deleted all at once???

Well that is one of the limitations of the free Home version, interactive input upon detection. It is one of the few differences between the Home and Pro version of avast, so it isn’t crippled in what it detects but isn’t a flexible as the pro paid for version.

You don’t mention what your email program is as that is crucial to what you ‘can’ do ?
This assumes you have one that uses the Internet Mail provider.

You only have a limited option in the Home (free) version, to send the infected file to the virus Chest (silent mode, with general answer no, see below).

My own feeling on this is you should use the default interactive action. This way you know exactly what is going on with your system. If you are getting so many warnings, that you want to automate this process, I believe you should review your security practice - filter emails at source, delete from server rather than download them.

See the avast help file, Resident Protection: Standard Shield Provider Settings - “Advanced” Page.
Click on Internet Mail and then on Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and select Silent Mode and the General answer No.

it’s funny. i don’t see this interface at all.
All I get is this (see attached image).
My email program is MS Outlook 2003.
Thank you

Left click the ‘a’ blue icon and click ‘Details’ button to get there.

thanx

Yours is different as you need the Outlook/Exchange (not Internet Mail provider), which has more configuration options, Customise, Advanced, Silent mode (moves infected file to the Chest), see image.

Or you can as suggested by 19monty64 you can send it to another folder, Customize, Inbound mail, ‘discard unconditionally,’ ‘move it to the following outlook folder’ and select a folder for your suspect/infected emails.

Does it solve your problems? I mean, David’s suggestions, or do you need further help?

Yes, it did solve the problem.
Thank you.
Great support.
