Removing ODF completely

Dear Forum,

How can I ensure that an ODF add-on for Word has been completely removed?

  • Downloaded a Word ODF add-on from sourceforge.net
  • Uninstalled it (apparently successfully) from Add/Remove programmes
  • Under the file menu in Word there are still ‘Open ODF’, ‘Save as ODF’ and ‘ODF Options’
  • Clicking on these options has no effect
  • No ODF add-ons are listed in Add/Remove programmes
  • Open Office itself is not installed
  • Search of the hard drive reveals these directories which are still there:
  1. c:\documents and settings\user\application data\SunODFPluginforMicrosoftOffice
(This directory has sub-directories 1, user, basic, standard, config, registry, cache, data, org, openoffice, office, soffice.cfg, modules, swriter, images, menubar, statusbar and toolbar)

  2. c:\program files\sun\tempmicbatchfile (this is the only file in this directory)

Would appreciate your suggestions or advice.

Best wishes,

Avastfan1

PS: Why was it so much easier to uninstall (ie. delete) stuff in DOS?

cd DIRECTORY
del .
rd DIRECTORY

programme gone.

I’d try revo uninstaller – does the standard uninstall, then removes registry bits & also left over program files/folders
there is a freebie version off their website which should be enough for you.
OK to work properly you might be best to reinstall the odf addon to be sure revo spots it

another option is to find a promo/free version of something like ashampoo winoptimizer or tuneup utilities and run the cleaner routines

Thank you for the suggestion.

Best wishes,

Firefox is at 3.6.11 now, so you need to update firefox or update your signature, whichever isn’t correct.

Thanks DavidR.
