Renewing doesn't work

I have Internet Security that is expiring in fewa days. I have received messages for renewal but selecting Renew and clicking Continue with Renewal goes nowhere. It doesn’t work through the UI either: Maintenance - Subscription - Renew now just brings up the same dialog where selecting Renew and clicking Continue does nothing. Neither does selecting Upgrade by the way. Plain simply, the Continue button doesn’t work at all. Isn’t my money good for you?! Am I forced to change the protection because of the stupid malfunction of the program?

Welcome to the avast forum Renegaatti,
From here you can renew your paid subscription:http://www.avast.com/store . After you purchase your subscriprion you will need to download a license file and insert it in the avast program by opening it.

Excellent, thank you! But is the distributed upgrade build of Internet Security 8.0 absolutely 100% safe? I would dread the horrors of dying computer and/or internet connection, repeating un/reinstalling etc. described in other threads. Would it be safer to just renew the existing protection? My computer skills would cover just a straightforward installation with no hassle.

Forgot to mention: Win 7 64 bit, no other protection software

Currently i’m running avast free 8.0.1483 on windows 7 ultimate 32 bit - i have no problems. The choice of the version is yours- 8 or 7. You can download version 7 from here: http://www.oldapps.com/avast_antivirus.php?old_avast=8431. The protection against viruses is the same because the engine and the definitions are the same for every version of avast. But i will recommend version 8 because it have more functions and fixes of bugs.

Version 8- download from here and insert the license key- http://www.filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/ It will upgrade automatically to pro( internet security or premier)

Yes, AIS v8.0 is safe. Please keep this in mind, most of the postings involve issues.
Those who never encounter problems do not as a rule post here on the forums.
Conclusion…there are millions of users without issues. An extremely small minority do.

If you do have issues come back here for further assistance. 8)

Why push v7.0 when v8.0 has been proven to be quite stable? ??? As far as a good download site most prefer filehippo or softpedia. 8)

Look the post of davexnet here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=117425.0. :)

So here am I back again (could say what did I say but… I wont…)

Chose the 8.0, installed, reboot, and… blue screen of death. Repair, normal start, again BoD. Then it says the system can’t be repaired, auto shut down. Power on, normal boot… no BoD, Win starts, but Avast alerts UNSECURED.

Ahem… could some blessed soul instruct or point out a ready-made thread what to do next. FIX NOW -button?

I am experiencing something very similar to you except my subscription should not run out until 6/29/2013 but it is showing 0 days remaining.

This morning was the first time I had a problem (version 7 running on Win 7 64 bit) I got a message my laptop was Unsecured. The FIX Button does nothing.

No reply yet from tech service. If I get one I’ll post it.

This one worked for me: 1) uninstalled Avast (with normal Windows tool), 2) installed Avast free, 3) downloaded the 8.0 installation file (there was a link in the e-mail received after purchase); 4) saved the licence file (attached in the same e-mail), 5) double-clicked the licence which triggered the installation. Reboot, all OK.

The problem may (or may not) have been that during the first attempt I ran the downloaded installation file, which is against the IMPORTANT NOTE written in the e-mail. Double-clicking the licence file is the right way. However I’m pretty sure this wasn’t explained on the web page where the download was made, just in the e-mail.

You really should start your own thread. That said try a repair Control Panel>Uninstall>double click “avast”>click “repair”>reboot
