Repeated Error Message Popping Up???

:frowning: :frowning: I have begun to get a very annoying and scarey popup appearing in the bottom right hand corner of my screen showing there’s a problem with avast, yet when I click for more details I get nothing. I had a tech look at the system settings and it appears that everything is working. Does this mean I am not getting automatic updates or is it a new system glitch? I need to know and support is weak!!!

Can you be more detailed in what is displayed in the scary pop-up, the exact text of the message ?

What is your operating system ?

Check the avast! Log Viewer (right click the avast ‘a’ icon), Error/Warning section, this may contain more information on the error ?

If you are using XP is there in the windows event viewer relating to avast ?

Does this message appears just after making login or at any time?
Can you manually update avast?

I hope you meant tech support for your new system (Dell, ACER, HP, Lenovo etc.) because avast! tech support is everything but weak. One of the best and fastest responding technical support crews out there, especially we’re talking about completely freeware product.

I am quite sure your firewall is blocking avast! and its components to properly connect to the internet and download all those updates. Check your firewall settings (have no clue which one you’re using, lack of info about your system and programs running on your computer), go to program/application rules settings and make sure all avast! associated items are allowed to connect to the internet.

Cheers!

Edit: Oh yeah… Welcome to forums !
