Report an issue

I had an issue that I want to report to AVAST but can’t find a way to do that. I downloaded an application, then when I tried to install it, the process crashed. After working the problem for some time, I found the only way to install the new application was to temporarily turn off AVAST. It seems to me that AVAST might want to know some of the details, but they don’t seem to give me any option to do that.

You may be able to do that by using the debug logging and sending it to Avast.
And using the Avast Tray Icon, Right click option - Got any feedback Let Us Know.
Having run the debug logging that should then be uploaded to Avast.

Thanks. I think I got it, but I won’t be able to try it for a few days.

You’re welcome.

Hopefully you will have some success.

I finally was able to start this. I enabled debug logging, tried again to install Tonfotos, and the process crashed. I turned off enable debugging. I assume that a bug report was created, but there was no indication and I don’t know where to look for it. I found the second window you show with “Got any feedback?” But clicking on Let Us Know just lets me send text. I think I need help to find a bug report and also need a way to send it.

I suspect (don’t know) that having enabled debug logging, it creates logs in a default location that avast knows.

I would suggest that you leave debug logging enabled until you try to use the “Got any feedback?” link. As it says ‘Send us your Ideas or bug reports’, my assumption would be ‘debug logging’ data.

All that said going back over your first post, you are reporting that the program you were installing crashed. So I don’t think that there would be anything in Avasts debug logs as nothing happened to Avast.

So use notepad to write a short description on the Application you were trying to install ‘Tonfotos’ and exactly what happened. That could be copied and pasted into the Got any feedback option in Avast.

I would also suggest reporting it to Tonfotos support as you may not be alone:

Thanks. All that seems to make sense and I’ll try it. I’ve spoken/written to Tonfotos quite a bit and he finally suggested turning AVAST off for a few minutes. I feel sure there are many people using AVAST and Tonfotos without any problem and the issue is likely unique to something on my computer. But it isn’t showing up anywhere else.

The problem appears solved. I checked frequently in the beginning without seeing any change and then waited a while (longer than intended). Today, the download and install worked fine. I appreciate the help.
