hi there, i did a scan this morning & the result suggested i had a rootkit in hidden file. the path for this was
C:\WINDOWS\Temp_asw_aisl.tm~a03204.
when i tried to move to chest it informed me that ‘the system cannot find the file specified(2)’
i subsequently set system to ‘show hidden files’ & did 2 more full scans including a boot time scan which have returned ‘no virus found’ results.
so, my question is : do i have a problem or not & could this have been glitch in the system. if i do have a problem then how can i solve it if the system cant find specified file.
Try cleaning your temp files with TFC - Temp File Cleaner by OldTimer
http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/TFC-Temp-File-Cleaner-OldTimer-file187.html
TFC requires a reboot immediately after running. Be sure to save any unsaved work before running TFC.
Check your computer for Malware with
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.46 http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
always run update so you have latest database before you scan
click the remove selected button to quarantine anything found
if anything found you may post the scan log here
i have now cleaned temp files with TFC & i had already scanned with MBAM which found nothing.
but my real question is why 2 subsequent full scans including a boot time scan revealed no virus even though i had done nothing to delete the original virus. as i said in my previous post when i tried to move it to the chest it told me the file could not be found.
i wonder if you might be able to shed some light on this for me
Temp files are being created after windows startup, when you did boot-scan, no component was working to create temp files.
But, _asw_aisl.tm look-likes belong to avast itself, it’s weird if your avast flagged it, I’ve no clue about this one now!
