Resolved:Backing Up a File

From my XP Pro system.

I double click on the file as the insert dialog opens up.

The link takes me to a site showing how to insert the licence. The e-mail is asking me to back the file up. I know where it is now but dont know how to back it up.

You have backed it up as it is on your hard drive in the location that you saved it.

You could save it to a Flash Drive for further safe keeping.

Thank you YoKenny, its just been backed up on a dvd. The e-mail advises:

“and also make a separate backup copy of it, e.g. on a CD or USB flash disc in case of hard drive failure. This file is needed to activate your avast”

Backing it up it just making a copy of it (saving it) outside of the email on your hard disk.

??? in case of hard drive failure ???
??? outside of the email on your hard disk ???

Hard discs are totally beyond me David.

The hard disk is where your OS and all your programs and data are stored. It is usually abbreviated to HDD Hard Disk Drive, so it is just the same as the hard drive term they are using.

Hard disks rarely fail but when they do it usually is a disaster you do not want to have. :o
