After reading on the forum today, I noticed 5.1 was released so I updated and rebooted. Now under maintenance and update, it shows my version is still 5.1.677, and says 5.1.864 is available, but when I try to update, it says I already have the latest version?
Also, not sure if it is related to the update, but MBAM scan freezes every few seconds or so during a quick scan.
Why not an installation from scratch?
First try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. This has in the past resolved this out of sync issue between reported and actual version. You may need to reboot after the repair.
The repair worked. Shields are working, and Avast! shows the proper version, but now Firefox crashes as soon as I click on the shortcut.
EDIT: It’s working now…weird.
You’re welcome, I think the firefox issue is an unfortunate hiccup, unrelated to avast.
