As in another thread avast found a virus in updater.exe in FF, Thunderbird and Sunbird. When I tried to restore the files to the computers it seams that it doesn’t restore it to the remote computer where I have connected to the Virus Chest but to the local computer from where I run the Network Manager Consol. I believed that when I connected to a remote virus chest I was able to restore the file on the remote computer.
All programs are up to date. Though at the time the virus was found the ADMN wasn’t and I have updated it to the latest after this. Though I think this shouldn’t impact this.
But, are the file excluded from the resident protection on the remote computers? If not, maybe, the resident avoid the restoration as, to it, the file is infected… :
But how come it is restored to the comp I use then? I also use FireFox and Thunderbird on the comp Im running admn Consol.
Tested to exlude the path and to exclude the file it self and it still restore to my local computer and not to the computer that Im connected to in virus cheast.
Can it has something to do if I have an account on the comp or not?
I am able to restore the files if I go to the computer and open up the manged client and connect to the virus chest from the local comp. Though going around to all comps isn’t actually what I want to do
Also I noticed that when I connected to the virus chest from the local comp I am able to scan the files in the virus chest. This I can’t do when I connect from the adnm. Being able to scan the files when you are remotely connected would be a charm
Sounds interesting. I’ll have this tested, maybe it’s a bug in the remote virus chest functionality. The “restore” function should definitely act on the remote machine (NOT transfer the file to the machine from where you’re connected).
BTW for the next major version of ADNM, the plan is to dramatically improve the remote chest handling. You should be e.g. able to create a task that will restore a specific file from the chest on all machines at once etc.
