Rooted Xperia P - Restore resistant Avast question

Hi,

Before I start, I must say what a wonderful program you have created! I am terrible for misplacing phone so having Avast on my phone puts me more at ease!

I just have a question. I have a Sony Xperia P which is rooted and running ICS 4.0.4. I have activated the ‘hard protection’ so that Avast is not deleted if the phone is installed. However, if the thief restores the phone with a modified ROM or roots the phone after restoring, can’t he or she simply deny Avast superuser privileges or would the ‘disguised’ app only appear in the list? If they were really clever and denied that app root privileges, is Avast effectively deactivated?

To test everything too, I replaced the SIM card in my phone but received no notification on my rescue number informing me that it was changed. I thought this was supposed to happen automatically?
