Rootkit Questions

  1. Does the rootkits infect or destroy the non system partition. e.g I have three partitions, C, D and E, can the rootkits destroy D and E also?

  2. And does the rootkits can be found in non-system drives e.g D and E etc?

I’m not an expert, but I think the answer is “yes” for both questions, unfortunately.

Does the rootkits infect or destroy........
infect yes....... destroy.... unless that is what it was designed to do, i dont think so malware today want you computer to work so that the virus can do what it was deigned fore....and today that is usually to steal you money

Well said Pondus  Unfortunately, that usually is the case. In general, if malware is intended to
destroy a partition, it will modify or corrupt the MBR which can be ugly, but there are plenty free tools
out there to make backups of MBR, partition tables, etc., or to rebuild them. In the case of fraud ware,
parting one from their money is the goal if one goes click crazy too often.

All my best!
