Hi,
I recently performed a full system scan and avast informed me that I have 50 viruses in my winsxs folder, these are apparently rootkits. I am not exactly sure what a rootkit is but avast says they are of high severity so I tried using all the tools it has to get rid of these. None of them worked and I am not sure what to do to get rid of them. will they damage my computer if I cannot get rid of them? Please Help!

did windows just update before you scanned?
reboot computer and do a new scan … still there?
when I shut down windows had to update. I’ve just logged back on now and am waiting for the scan to complete. Can windows updating be detected as harmful I take it?
Yes, as windows shifts the files around for installation they look suspicious. You should no longer get the alert
I scanned again and no longer get the alert. Thanks for the advice, will be very helpful when performing future scans!
