RPC server is unavailable

A virus (Win32: Trojan-gen {Other}) was found on my friend’s computer while running a thorough scan in safe-mode. The recommended action was to move it to the chest. I did that, but this message appeared, “The RPC server is unavailable, cannot process “c:\36110103225.exe” file.” When I clicked the okay button, the same virus warning appeared and suggested that I move the virus to the chest. I got nowhere.

What do I do? Do I click on move/rename, delete, repair, or do nothing and click on the continue button so I can complete the thorough scan? Can someone help me with this? I’m stuck. Thanks, Megaman

Did you try boot time scanning?
Do you have any other antivirus installed in this computer? Had in the past?

There was one called Spyware Terminator or something, but it wasn’t used or activated. I don’t know if that’s an antivirus program. The RPC message sounds familiar. What do I do? Thanks, Mega

Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair). You must be connected to the internet while repairing.

If this does not help, uninstall SpywareTerminator and try again.
Even, you must uninstall / boot / install avast / boot again.

SpywareTerminator has an in-built antivirus (ClamAV) that could, for any reason, messing your system.
