Runtime error access BPP Console [SOLVED]

Can’t seem to load the BPP Console. Get this error when accessing page. Did not have any errors during the installation and followed the IIS setup guide step by step. Please help.

Also the Avast Administration Console service won’t start. It starts and stops.

Hi,
wich version of console are you running?
You should control in task manager, that this programs are running… (see attached picture)
Had you tried to reboot the server? Wich OS?

Running the latest version of the console on Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition Service Pack 2. Have 1 of those services running (avast.sbc.manager.exe).

Please attach the web.config file located in “C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Administration Console\Web” here.

Here it is.

That first message is what the browser shows when I try to open the console. I also noticed that there are 2 services, Avast Administration Console and Avast Administration Console Monitor that should be running. The Avast Administration Console Monitor is running. THe other is not. When I try to start it, I get a message stating that it started and stopped. And I get this error in the Event Viewer.

Can’t get the “Avast! Administration Console” service to start. The “Avast! Administration Console Monitor” is started and working. But what can I look for. The dependencies are running. The service starts then stops. PLEASE HELP !!!

Do you have such file under the Default Web Site folder in IIS?

Only the log files from the administration console will tell us what is happening there.
You can find them in:

  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Administration Console\Logs - WinXP/2k3
  • C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Administration Console\Logs - Win Vista/7/2k8

Here’s the log files. Please tell me if that is what you are looking for.

Sorry… Here’s the one I think we’re looking for. I tried restarting the service “Avast! Administration Console” and this log file was created. Appears it’s looking for the bindings to the fake 169.x.x.x. address. How do I make it look for the correct address?

If you click on win flag->run->type CMD->ok->then type IPCONFIG do you see the fake IP adress?
If think you must configure correctly the TCP/IP adress in the network adapter

-On the Windows Server 2003, open Change Adapter Settings by clicking Start, pointing to Control Panel, clicking Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Change Adapter Settings. -Right-click the network connection that you want to configure, and then click Properties. -On the Properties page, click the Networking tab, click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) in the This connection uses the following items list, and then click Properties. -On the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties page, configure the IP addresses as appropriate for the network subnet to which the network adapter is attached.

Well there are 2 network adapters. Local Area Connection doesn’t have anything hooked to it so it has the auto generated 169.x.x.x address. The Local Area Connection 2 has the actual static IP. So with your post I disabled the adapter with nothing hooked to it and the service started. Thank you all for your help.

Perfect
