SafeZone discontinued - eta on new browser?

While trying to figure out why my SafeZone no longer loaded Bank Mode or Passwords I came to the site to see why my new install no longer showed SafeZone at all. See that Avast is discontinuing it. (See here: https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB209)

Does anyone know the eta of when the newer/better browser will be available?

Also will it include a type of Bank Mode with it as well? That’s the only reason I even used SafeZone, to pay bills, order online etc through Bank Mode. I also loved the fact that I could open my Excel file from within Bank Mode. I really hope that you keep that feature. It was a pain in the bum to keep getting out of Bank Mode and going back and forth to see my spreadsheet before that was implemented.

It looks like the new browser is rolling out but it has some issues as noted on this separate board posting https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=207624.0
I am sure they working out the bugs but, in the meantime I am going to see if I can backup my favorites from the Avast browser in case it takes a while to resolve.

Well, FAQ is not totally right. SafeZone Browser was based on Opera browser (Chromium-based browser) with support from Avast (bank mode, secure DNS, …), but Avast Software acquired Safer browser ~9 months ago and next SafeZone browser will be built on Safer (Chromium-based browser as well). Avast component will be included winthin 6 months, you will definitely not miss Avast features.

Martin, will it still be free ??? Will it be part of the Avast install or a standalone browser.

it will be free and more independent on AV. but still distributed with it :wink: for some features aka Bank mode the AV is still needed.

Can I ask if it will include a feature to change your search engine that I (the customer) wants, rather than a select list based no doubt on some 3rd party arrangement ;D

Or am I missing something so obvious here?

Great news, as I a 3-PC licence but can only use the browser on one PC due to installing on the other PC’s just after you withdrew it ::slight_smile:

If you still have the installation program of Avast from the older version, why not remove Avast from the 2 systems that installed the newer version,
install the older version on those systems and then simple update the older version of Avast after it has installed SafeZone browser.

fk I uninstall Avast Premier because I had conflicts with another program then I installed it back then no more conflicts but what the fk no more SafeZone what am I supposed to use ? all the others browsers are crap.

Safezone is still there, it is the Safezone Browser that is gone.

I just hope the new browser version supports extensions. I want add adblockplus and socialfixer to block all the nonsense on facebook and ads everywhere. The current adblocker on safezone really stinks. Im also tired of having to use more than one browser because of safezones lack of extension support

That was changed to November. :cry: I’ve still got the old one working on 4 systems. :slight_smile:

I have to make windows clean install but i don’t want to lose avast because if i install this program again i will not get safebrowser
I have to wait until new browser be released … :cry:

You could install an old version that still contains the SafeZone browser and then update that version after the install. :slight_smile:
