Sage Accounts V14

Hi,

I just tried to start Sage Accounts v14. A message popped up saying that Avast had found and neutralised a threat - the message was not there for long, and it looked like a microsoft file that had been neutralised. Sage accounts will now not start at all, and there is no message to say why. Is this a known problem with Avast? Is there a way to find out what Avast did and reverse the process?

This is a Windows Vista system.

Cheers,
Gof2

UPDATE : I found an entry in an Avast log which proudly says it deleted SG50TASKS.DLL Has it actually deeleted trhis file or is it lurking somewhere on the PC still?

Update part 2.

I fixed the problem by 1) restoring the file and 2) adding it to the list of exceptions in Avast.

There is probably a copy still in the Avast Virus Chest (if you didn’t delete it) as the Restoration only moves a copy, one remains in the chest (belt and braces).

It is it still there Right click on the file in the chest and click ‘Submit to virus lab…’ as a possible False Positive. After analysis, if confirmed as an FP, the detection will be corrected. This would help all avast users with Sage Accounts 14.

Periodically scan the file in the virus chest, when it is no longer detected, you can remove the exclusion and manually delete the copy in the virus chest.
