Sandbox Settings Question

Under the Sandbox > Expert settings > Web browsers > Exclusions section, it says: “Use the check-boxes below to specify browser options that should be virtualized when running your web browser in the sandbox.”

Does checking these options mean they WILL be virtualized when running the browser in the sandbox?

I’m confused because these are under the “exclusions” section. Exclusion means to not incorporate something and that contradicts what the above check box message implies.

If you open the related help section it says: “Here you can specify that some options should NOT be virtualized when running your web browser in the sandbox.”

Intuitively the help section sounds correct. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks

Whatever is checked will not be sandboxed.

Those were excluded by default when I had AIS to make the Web browsers less of a pain to use when sandboxed. I’m assuming it is still the same?

Thank you Gargamel360 for the fast reply. What you say makes more sense.

Therefore the UI needs to be changed to say: “Use the check-boxes below to specify browser options that should NOT be virtualized when running your web browser in the sandbox”.

It is still correct the way it is…either way you state it ,“should or should not be virtualized”, it amounts to the same thing, like “glass half empty or half full”…but I get what you mean, how it would be more intuitive to be stated the way you want it.

I would say for most people, intuitively it should say: "Use the check-boxes below to specify browser options that should not be virtualized when running your web browser in the sandbox”.

Saying it like that would also be consistent with the help file and therefore less confusing.

There was “not” word in avast6, but I negated the sentence in avast7, because I didn’t want to use negative sentence. Help file wasn’t updated yet.

Hi PK,
By removing the “Not” you end up reversing the intuitive meaning of the sentence. I have seen this same question posted by another user. My vote is to put the “Not” back. The benefit of clarity out weights any negatives of using a negative word.

Hi PK,
How about this as an option (No negative words):
“Use the check-boxes below to specify browser options that should be excluded from being virtualized when running your web browser in the sandbox.”
