I am having issues finding my downloads in sandbox…before you start i have searched the forum and have made sure that the automatically detect download location is checked…no matter what settings i select i can’t seem to find my downloads…also to note…i am using windows 7 32 bit, IE9 beta, and the latest version of AIS if that will help any
I am new to the forum so forgive me if I have posted this in the wrong place. I have just installed Avast Pro on a laptop running Vista ultimate 32 bit. and am trying to learn how to use the sandbox. I also have the box checked that allows files to be downloaded outside of the virtualization. I have tried it successfully with Firefox 3.12. I tried an exe file and it downloaded to my usual designated location. I was able to navigate to it. However when I try the same action in Safari (I know I shouldn’t be using safari on a windows machine but I have an iphone and get great syncing of any bookmarks I may make). Sandboxing safari sounds like a great safety feature. I would really keep it on all the time if I could download files without having to exit virtualization.
Has anyone else had a problem with Safari? Is this a bug or is there a proper way to configure safari?
Safari isn’t fully supported, because its configuration file isn’t so user-friendly (as from other webbrowsers) to find out what’s Safari’s default download location. You can add this folder manually in GUI (Real-time shield → Process Virtualization → Settings → Exclusions).
I’ll try to improve Safari webbrowser in near future…
