well password settings backup is there, but is this only in Pro/AIS???

Its been a long time coming, but very welcome.
I still have Avast 6 Free and would like to know:
Because in version 6 there is now possibility to back up the Avast settings, is it possible (A) to upgrade to version 7 from GUI (it means no clean install), (B) then to use the back-up option to export my settings (actually this will be the Avast 6 settings since the export will follow right after the upgrade), (C) then to make clean install of Avast 7 after removing version 6 and (D) finally to import the just saved settings ???
My purpose of doing this is not to loose my current settings of Avast 6 and to implement them in Avast 7.
Will this work? Or are version 6 and 7 so different in folder structure, files etc…?
Should work.
That is effectively what I did when I installed the early avast7 closed beta version over the top of avast6, So if I had to do a clean reinstall of avast7 during the beta testing I wouldn’t lose the settings.
So it should work just fine, though after the update from avast6 you may find there is no need for a clean install. But since you have saved the settings you have that option without the hassle of manually editing your settings.
