I am having problems with windows 7 action center not reporting an(Avast Security) anti virus or antispyware install. I am thing that maybe if I uninstall and reinstall this might help, how do I save my settings. what do anyone suggest? thanks for any respond.
Hi ronnycopeh: It is my understanding (unless I’m mistaking )that settings cannot be saved. When Avast is uninstalled the settings go back to default. :-\
thanks, since all security is updated and working, I’ll just disable monitoring in action center, seem to be a problem just like windows security center.
You are welcome
Ridiculous.
You need to clear out the WEBM folder.
@schmidthouse
Please do not offer advice for Windows 7 users.
There is no WEBM folder as Schmidt suggets. There is a WBEM folder (C:\Windows\System32\wbem) but it cannot be deleted without damaging your system. You can delete or rename the REPOSITORY folder (c:\windows\system32\wbem\repository) but that will not solve your problem either. The Windows 7 Action Center seems to have trouble detecting the new version of avast! This problem must be addressed by both ALWIL and MICROSOFT.
@ groucho
You have to know how to clear out the WBEM folder.
I wish I could find the topic that discusses this.
thanks all is good, whether I disable or not.
Please post how to clear the WEBM folder when you find the topic. It will be interesting.
The first of these is an old reference so I don’t know if they have been updated or are valid for win7:
- WSC (a.k.a. Action Center) doesn’t detect avast!:
See http://windowsxp.mvps.org/repairwmi.htm, this also mentions Vista, so that may be valid for win7.
Also see Win7 WMI Repair
Edit: typo
@groucho: If you read my initial post ‘carefully’ I’m sure you can see I didn’t suggest anything about WEBM or WBEM folder… ???
I simply made a statement about settings. 8)
