Scamguard/emailguard not accepting my password

Hi, I set up email guard in the scam guard section of Avast Premium Security several months ago and shortly after I started receiving loads of scam emails. An email to me stated that the email guard had stopped working so I went into it to reactivate it, but it showed that my email was still listed as protected. I am now receiving around 70 scam emails from all over the world in various languages every 3 or 4 days. I have deleted my email from the list in order to try to add it again but it will not accept my password, although I have no trouble using it to access this Avast member site and my Avast account. I also stress I very rarely received suspicious emails until I registered my email address on the email guard page of premium security. Can someone tell me what is happening or is Avast getting too bloated with sub standard addons?
