scan impossible

Can you tell me why at the end of every scan when I show the results of the last scan , 2524 lines display with the sentence “impossible to scan” and this line are all .exe (documents and settings\My PC\WPWIN.EXE; 123.EXE; 1942.EXE; ABC.EXE; AGENT95.EXE; AIRMOS.EXE etc.)Is it normal?

What reason does it give for being unable to scan them ?

There are some there that I would say are suspect (the file names look like they could be random file names) 123.EXE; 1942.EXE; ABC.EXE; AGENT95.EXE; but without more info I couldn’t say. Are they perhaps files that are contained in an archive (zipped) file ?

Many programs (usually security based ones) password protect their files for legitimate reasons such as AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy, there are others (and avast doesn’t know the password or have any way of using it even if it did know it). A google search for the file names might give some more info. For instance AGENT95.EXE would appear to be a part of the Norton Systemworks.
Do you have systemworks ?
Do you have norton’s antivirus installed also ?

When you run scans with the above programs and you delete harmful entries that they detect, a copy is kept (in quarantine/restore/backup) in case you need to reverse what you did. These are usually password protected, you should do some housekeeping and delete old backup/recovery/quarantine entries (older than two weeks or so), this will reduce the numbers of files that can’t be scanned.

By examining 1) the reason given by avast! for not being able to scan the files, 2) the location of the files, you can get an idea of what program they relate to. You may need to expand the column headings to see all the text.

AIRMOS.EXE is part of … “AIR Mosaic is a sophisticated graphical Internet browsing application.” From a short read of the text, I would say this is a very old browser application. Are you using something like this? Read more about it here …

ABC.EXE could be Another Bittorrent Client. Are you using something like this? Otherwise, it could be a trojan. See this Google search …

123.EXE could be from Lotus Notes, Lotus 123, Lotus Smart Suite, etc. Do you have any Lotus programs on your computer? If not, more info in this Google search …

Sometimes there are good reasons why some files are not able to be read. They could be password protected files as might be the case if you have any Lotus programs. Without more info, though, it is difficult to say. As David asked, can you give us the exact words as to why these files were unable to be scanned? Posting a screen shot would also be helpful.
