scan is sticking on a file

Hello support,

avast free version:19.7.2388 (build 19.7.4674.526)
virus definitions:190907-4
UI Version:1.0.406

I have used avast for many years with little or no trouble.

Recently my full virus scans are sticking. Currently my scan is stuck on a file named:
Microsoft_Provisioning_desktop.dat

It has been a couple hours now.

I have reinstalled the program a couple of times.

What should i do when this happens??

Try Updating your antivirus definitions manually by opening the avast gui (program interface)>Menu>Settings>General>Troulbleshooting>Scroll down to open old settings>Update Click Update.

Although not mandatory, suggest you restart your system after you update to ensure the new virus definitions take. Ensure all files are saved first.
