Hi, i might be missing something…but…have avast for over six months and am very happy with it. the thing is, when i set scan it does not give me result and often freezes. also, last scan date is still last years ie the first scan date. can anyone point me in the right direction please? cheersjavascript:void(0);
Well, I guess you should first examine the scan log to see where avast is starting to hang.
The only problem is that I don’t remember the name of the logfile, but I know where it’s supposed to be. If you can, look around and see if you can find it, or wait until someone else can tell you what the filename is.
It will be located here: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log
Also, by scheduling a boot time scan, it may allow the scan to complete.

To do the boot-time scan, you would right-click on the Avast Icon, and click, “Start Avast Antivirus” Then, when you get to the Avast Simple User Interface, click Tools > Schedule boot time scan, then Schedule.
Re-boot your computer and let it run.
thanks. i’ll look for logfile. i scan by right click icon, start avast and then start the scan on the thing that looks like a radio! even after a scan the date is still last year.
